The Art of Dim Sum

The literal translation of dim sum is "to touch the heart". It is believed that the many delicasies that make up what we know as dim sum do indeed "touch the heart" when you taste them. There is a tremendous variety of dim sum, all served in small bite sized portions. To eat dim sum is to enjoy not only a variety of tastes but also a variety of textures - from silk soft Cheung Fun to crispy Spring Rolls.

Those items known collectively as dim sum are now a well established part of the culinary tradition of the Chinese, not only in China, but throughout the world. Dim sum is now a regular feature of Chinese restaurants overseas. It is usually served during the lunch and afternoon period, weekends and Sundays being the most popular time to enjoy dim sum.
